ILSC

Dear international student,

The Student Council of the Law Faculty (FSR-FdR) welcomes you to the University of Amsterdam. We represent law students in our regular consultations with the Dean. Depending on the topic we are granted either advisory or approval rights by Dutch law. The council consists of eight annually elected members, chosen by students of the Amsterdam Law School. However, the international students are missing in this equation, as many of you are not allowed to vote, nor take a seat in the council. In our opinion this frustrates transparency and the democratic control on the international policy at our faculty.

Seeing the importance of the evaluation and improvement of this policy, and to ensure that every student has a chance to be heard, the International Law Student Committee was founded last year. The ILSC has six members, chosen amongst international students, with the chairman being a member of the student council. By meeting once a month to discuss problems faced by international students, the Student Council hopes to gain better insight into the actual workings of the international policy to ensure adequate representation of the international students in our consultations with the Dean.

As every semester a new panel will be formed, we hope to ensure a great variety in opinions and fresh views. To be eligible to apply you have to be an international student, studying at least one semester at the Amsterdam Law School. We are looking for motivated and involved students, that want their voice to be heard. Send your motivation and curriculum vitae to morilliowilliams @ studentenraad . nl.

Are you interested in debating? Are you looking for an exciting extracurricular activity? Apply now!  Do not hesitate to contact us at the mentioned email address for more information.

We are looking forward to your application.

With kind regards,

Your Student Council 2010|2011
