Message from the Chair
My name is Yashi and I’m the Chair of the FSR Economics & Business this academic year. I’m a third-year BSc Economics & Business Economics student and I’d like to share some of my goals for the FSR this year.
My professional goals for the council include enhancing efficiency, keeping up with deadlines and keeping in contact with our working partners throughout the year. I sincerely believe that working towards these goals will fortify our council and allow us to leave a lasting impact on our faculty. Furthermore, I intend to establish a concrete information foundation for the next councils, ensuring future success for the FSR EB.
On a personal level, my goals revolve around both personal and professional growth. I’d like to embrace this incredible leadership opportunity, fostering a sustainable working relationship with my colleagues. Every member of our team carries a strong passion for transformative change in the university and has incredible ideas to execute that change. It is inspiring to work with such a team and I hope to learn myriads from them. Beyond leadership, I aspire to be a strong representative of the council and its ideologies.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the E&R team so far in the academic year. I am excited to see the development of promising files such as Peer Tutoring, the addition of bonus points under Active Learning and improvements in the third-year Minor/ Internship/Exchange file. Aligning with the faculty board, our shared goal is to enhance the quality of education, and we believe ongoing efforts on these files, as well as upcoming ones, will contribute to that cause. As for O&M, one of our primary goals this year is to increase the visibility of the council. We aim to achieve this through a higher frequency of social events. We’re currently working on monthly movie nights, barrels and a networking gala set to happen in February 2024.
I’m excited to see where this year takes us!

Enhanced Active Learning
Our commitment to fostering a dynamic academic environment is underscored by our Active Learning initiative. This policy seeks to invigorate tutorial sessions, transforming them into interactive hubs of knowledge exchange. A cornerstone of this initiative is the introduction of bonus-point assignments. By integrating these into various subjects across our faculty, we aim to offer students a more phased learning experience. This not only facilitates a deeper understanding but also provides an avenue for students to enhance their academic scores.
Integration of AI Chat GPT
In an era defined by technological advancements, we, as the student council, want to explore the potential of Chat GPT. While we aim to preserve the integrity and value of our diplomas, we want to make sure we use its opportunities to the maximum. Our objective is to strike a balance, harnessing the capabilities of this AI tool without compromising academic standards.
Consolidated Information on Minor, Internship, and Exchange
The third academic year presents a lot of flexibility and opportunities for students, from minors and internships to exchange programs. However, the dispersion of information across various platforms can be overwhelming. Our council is dedicated to streamlining this process. We aim to centralize all relevant details in one place, ensuring that every student has easy access to comprehensive and concise information, from application procedures and requirements to deadlines.
Peer Tutoring Expansion
Building on last year’s success in providing practice questions for challenging courses, we’re excited to introduce an offline dimension to our support system. We aim to start a peer tutoring program where top-performing students can mentor their peers, especially those facing academic challenges. This initiative, which will be funded by the university, not only offers a more relatable learning experience but also fosters a sense of community and mutual growth among students.
Events Announcements for Skill&Connect Tutorial
We strive to improve the experiences first-year students can get at the university. Therefore, we propose an innovative addition to the Skill&Connect Tutorial: a (bi)Weekly Campus Events Announcements Segment. In this way, we foster a stronger sense of community for the whole university by possibly having more students attend events happening on campus and have higher student engagement at all kinds of events.

Monthly Movie Nights
A concept introduced by our predecessors, we carry out movie nights (with free entry and snacks) once a month on campus. We feel that this is an affordable way for students to relax with their friends after a long week of academic workload. We also wish to collaborate with other FSRs occasionally.
Networking Gala
One of our most anticipated events this year is the networking gala in conjunction with various other FSRs and study associations. We feel that this will give students an opportunity to network while simultaneously experiencing some other fun activities we have planned for the gala.
Increase our Visability
O&M strives to maximize visibility for the council this year, we recognize that many students may not be aware of the FSR and the ways in which it can help them and we aim to remedy that. Our main strategies to amplify visibility are to: stay active on social media platforms such as Instagram, continuously organize events and maintain good relationships with other FSRs/ study associations.
