How do I become a council member?
To become a council member, you have to join an existing student party or set up a new (one-man) party yourself. You can do this until 11 April at the latest. Please note that some parties have an earlier deadline. In May, during election week, all faculty students can vote for their favourite candidate. At the FNWI, two parties are currently active in the council: Lief and Activist Party UvA.
Do not hesitate to sign up as a council member for the FSR FNWI 25/26. The deadline is 11 April. If you have any questions about the student council, feel free to contact us or drop by in A0.10.

freddie.kiel.fnwi@gmail.comWhat is the student council
The Student Council is a representative body that represents the voice of students within the university. It is a group of students elected to represent the interests of fellow students and ensure the best possible study experience. The council works closely with university administrators, faculty and other relevant parties to improve the quality of education, facilities and general conditions for students.
In addition, the student council plays an important role in promoting student participation and involvement. They organize events and other activities to strengthen the student community and give students the opportunity to have their voices heard. Council members serve as the link between students and university policies, and they strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment in which all students feel heard and represented. Through collaboration and communication, the student council works to improve education and create a positive and stimulating learning environment for all students.
Committees
The FSR FNWI has several committees, each focusing on specific aspects of student council work. Here are brief descriptions of these committees:
Development and Facilities Committee
The Development and Facilities Committee (DFC) is responsible for maintaining and improving development on Science Park and improving faculty facilities.
Education and Regulations Committee
The Education and Regulations Committee (ORC): The ORC focuses on overarching educational issues at the faculty. They address issues such as teaching quality, collaboration with other universities, communication within the faculty and future vision of the university. They work closely with various stakeholders to solve problems and make improvements in education. The ORC is also concerned with studying and evaluating regulations and procedures within the faculty and university. They ensure that the regulations are up-to-date and make changes as needed. They are also involved in recommending and reviewing new programs and appointments of teaching and program directors.
Wellbeing and Promotion Committee
The WPC is responsible for increasing student wellbeing at Science Park and student council awareness. They manage the council’s social media accounts, organize events and promote student involvement in council activities.
